The email delivery path

Internet email typically involves an application or mail server, DNS lookups, SMTP connections, message transfer, authentication checks and recipient-side filtering. Understanding each layer helps isolate failures instead of treating every delivery problem as a generic spam issue.

Authentication is one layer

SPF authorizes sending hosts, DKIM adds a cryptographic signature, and DMARC evaluates alignment and policy. These mechanisms help establish domain identity, but they do not guarantee inbox placement; reputation, recipient behavior and provider filtering also matter.
